Full Tear-Off
We strip the roof down to the decking every time. No shingle-over-shingle layovers — they hide rot, trap heat, and void most manufacturer warranties.
Decking Inspection & Replacement
Once the old roof is off, every sheet of decking gets walked and checked. Soft or rotted wood is cut out and replaced before anything new goes over it.
Ice & Water Shield + Synthetic Underlayment
Self-sealing membrane in the valleys and along the eaves — where ice dams and wind-driven rain attack — with synthetic underlayment across the rest of the deck.
New Drip Edge & Flashing
Fresh drip edge on every eave and rake, and new flashing at chimneys, sidewalls, and pipe boots. Roofs rarely fail in the field of shingles — they fail at the edges and penetrations.
Architectural Shingles & Ridge Venting
Dimensional architectural shingles in your choice of color, with ridge vents cut in so the attic can breathe — heat and moisture out, shingle life up.
Permits & Inspections
Whatever your municipality requires — permit application, fees, inspection scheduling — we handle it as part of the job. You never stand in line at city hall, and the cost is inside the one written price, not stacked on later.
Same-Day Dry-In
We never open more roof than we can protect. Every square foot torn off gets underlayment and membrane over it the same day, so a surprise shower hits waterproofing, never bare decking.
Cleanup & Magnet Sweep
Tarps protect your landscaping during tear-off, all debris is hauled the same day, and we finish with a magnet sweep of the yard and driveway so no nail ends up in a tire or a bare foot.

We photograph and measure every slope, check the roof from the attic side too, and hand you a written spec with one line-item price — no vague allowances that balloon after you sign.
Pick Your Shingle
Color and grade get decided in your driveway, with physical sample boards held against your own brick and siding in real daylight — not on a screen.
Tear-Off to Dry-In
The crew strips to bare decking in the morning, cuts out any soft wood, and has underlayment and ice-and-water shield down the same day — a surprise shower hits membrane, never bare wood.

Materials
Choosing Your Shingle
Asphalt shingles come in three broad grades, and the differences are real. Old-style 3-tab shingles are the flat, budget option — lighter, rated for lower wind speeds, and typically good for fifteen to twenty years. Architectural shingles, our standard, are laminated in two layers for a dimensional look, carry much stronger wind ratings, and commonly run twenty-five to thirty years with proper ventilation. Designer shingles go heavier still, mimicking slate or cedar shake for homes where the roofline is part of the architecture.
Then there’s the upgrade worth a hard look in our part of Missouri: impact-resistant Class 4 shingles. Class 4 is the top rating under the UL 2218 test — a two-inch steel ball dropped from twenty feet, roughly the punch of serious hail — and in a hail corridor like ours, many insurers offer a premium discount for a certified Class 4 roof. The discount varies by carrier and policy, so ask your agent before you decide; if you go Class 4, we supply the certification paperwork your insurer needs.
Whichever grade you choose, we bring physical sample boards to your driveway so you can see the color against your own brick and siding in real daylight — not on a screen — and if your subdivision has color rules, we get that approval squared away before a single bundle is ordered.
Tear-Off
Replacement vs. Nail-Over
Some roofers will offer to nail new shingles straight over your old ones. It’s cheaper and faster — and it’s the one thing we won’t do. A nail-over hides the decking, which is the entire point of a replacement: the tear-off is the only moment anyone ever sees the wood your roof actually sits on. Shingle over it and any soft, rotted, or delaminated decking stays right where it is, quietly getting worse under a brand-new surface.
The problems don’t stop at what you can’t see. A second layer traps heat between the courses and cooks both layers from below, telegraphs every hump and cupped edge of the old roof through the new one, adds thousands of pounds of dead load, and voids or shortens most manufacturer warranties. Building codes based on the IRC cap a roof at two layers for good reason — and once you’re at two, the next roof must be a tear-off anyway. All a nail-over buys is a worse roof now and a more expensive tear-off later.
So every Korvix replacement starts at the decking, every time. It costs a little more in labor and disposal, it’s built into the written quote so there’s no surprise, and it’s the difference between a roof that looks new and a roof that is new.
